Without the kindness and dedication of the DCET, and their financial and emotional support, I would not have had the strength to pursue my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. An experience that has changed me on a fundamental level, and is a testament to the transformative nature of university; it gives you a sense of value that is invaluable. University helps you learn how to understand yourself and the world we live in, it teaches you how to articulate and push yourself, it gives you the opportunity to meet new people and understand different cultures, it gives you a fighting chance. That is what the DCET does. It gives its scholars a fighting chance. It brings a little hope, where hope runs rare. It levels the playing field and helps to break moulds. It creates possibilities. It changes the world, one person at a time.
